data-engineer.ai started from an idea that most AI-tooling:

1. aren't good enough because they lack proper context engineering. They tend to produce AI-slop without guardrails from a human Data Engineer.
2. too expensive: vendors try to lock you into their ecosystem. Some companies are charging thousands per seat, yet provide little value to customers.

Our platform is designed to help data teams be more productive, by freeing up their time and resources, so they can focus on what matters the most: extracting business insights.

The first product we offer is a AI agent that allows non-technical users to prototype dbt / SQLMesh models quickly.

There are almost ~30 million software engineers in this world, but 10x the number of non-technicals users out there.
